A Quint is a combination of an Engine and a Truck - essentially a truck with the addition of a pump and water tank (and usually additional hose). They are somewhat controversial in the fire service. Supporters say that quints are versatile and provide a crew with many options. Detractors say they are heavy and difficult to maneuver and can create confusion over their role (since engines and trucks have very different fireground responsibilities).
